Summary: Many, MANY decades ago, we grappled with the devil fish itself. But it was just a manta ray with not a care in the world. A harmless fish that happened to be the biggest of its species. Now, we see for ourselves a TRUE devil fish. A ray that might as well be their God.

History: Long ago, a monstrous Sea Dragon was raised by rebels of the Dondo before being released by the mystically-powered Yuan Zhen. Years later, the beast grew positively massive, but became a threat to just about anything sailing around the Eastern Chinese Sea. At first believed to be a myth, the sea dragon's doings are investigated by a young Dee Renjie.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After the sea dragon makes itself known to everyone, Dee manages to kill it for good by tricking it into eating poisoned bait. It very nearly capsizes the ship he's on before it sinks to the bottom of the ocean.

Powers/Abilities: Aside from amazing resilience, the Sea Dragon is deceptively graceful upon leaping out of the air, capable of covering quite a lot of distance going either up or forward in the sky before coming down.

Weakness: Its eyes and internal harm.

Scariness Factor: 4-Of all the sea monster designs we've seen, this stands out as one of the more unique specimens. Looking like a manta ray straight out of Hell, the Sea Dragon is neither conventional, nor is it something you'd hope to encounter. It can swallow entire ships whole, and dear lord, those TEETH!

Trivia: -Rays are known for being able to zoom out of the water with just as much finesse and height as their shark cousins. Chief among them in this regard is the mobula ray, which does it constantly in groups, and still puzzles us as to why. Theories include it being a means of communication, cleaning off parasites, or catching its small prey off guard.

-This film is actually a prequel to 2010's "Young Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame", and was followed by 2018's "Young Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings". All three are heavily fictionalized accounts of the life of Di Renjie, a historical figure known for being the greatest official/chancellor during the rule of Wu Zetian, one of the most important sovereigns in China's history.
